Chris Benoit

Chris Benoit is considered by many as one of the greatest technical wrestlers alive. The wrestling champion declared that this sport has consumed his life, considering his passion and a big part of him as a person. Chris started in Edmonton, when the 12-year-old Chris attended his first match at the Old Pavilion. He soon become passionate with weight lifting or wrestling events throughout Edmonton and Calgary. After he finished high-school, he started training  in the renown Calgary “Dungeon” owned by the well-known Stu Hart. There he meet the people that became his best friends, Dean Malenko (now a WWE producer) and the late Eddie Guerrero.

“Toothless aggressor” confessed he was freaked out breaking Sabu’s neck at ECW’s November 2 Remember in 1994, thus being nicknamed “The Crippler”. Benoit started out in WCW as a member of the cruiserweight division in late 1995/early 1996. His disappointment with the company grew and by January 2000 he left the company with friends Eddie Guerrero or Dean Malenko alongside him.

After a series of victories in 2003-2004, Chris Benoit was ranked by the Pro Wrestling Insider # 1 of the 500 best singles wrestlers of 2004. Benoit is known for the winning the WWE United States Championship in a record time, 25.5 seconds. This and the quickest title defense, 22.5 seconds., were both against Orlando Jordan. On April 2, 2007 Benoit became the longest reigning United States Champion with the WWE title.
